The peach originates from China. There are two types; one which has a softer flesh is more suitable for the table. The second has a harder flesh and is often used in food processing.

Chilean peaches are available from November to March.

This variety has a lovely flavour, visual appeal and a long shelf life. The stone can easily be removed from the flesh.

This is one of the most popular peach varieties. The stone can be removed from the flesh without too much difficulty.

This is a mid-sized peach with yellow pulp, very sweet, very firm and with good color. It is a late harvest variety.

This is a large peach, with yellowish flesh and a red color line near the pit.
 
Storage
This stonefruit variety is best stored at 32°F (0° C) to maximise its storage life.
Brightly coloured and moderately hard peaches will mature in 2 or 3 days when kept at room temperature.

Display
Merchandise the most round fruit, which are yellow coloured with a tinge of red.
Ripe peaches are soft to the touch and has a sweet smell.
Never refrigerate peaches on display.
Remove all under or over ripe fruit.
Display the fruit in its shipping carton.
