As an exporting country, Chile
has always been aware of the need to comply with
the guidelines of Good Agricultural Practices
(GAP). These procedures are wide reaching. Controls ensure that the quality
of the produce is excellent and that Food Safety
(biological and chemical risks) regulations are
complied with.
There are also measures in place to uphold Corporate
Social Responsibility as well as care for the
Environment. The Chilean GAP programme is very
keen to protect to protect the environment against
any type of malpractice.
Although participation in the
Chilean GAP programme remains voluntary, it was
the first programme in the world to be implemented
at a national level.
The Chilean standard on Good Agricultural
Practices (ChileGAP®), has been endorsed and
certified by Eurepgap and by Davis Fresh through
its ProSafe Certified program.
