In 1999 ASOEX began promotional
activities in South Korea, with a campaign that,
just like in Japan, used the Humboldt penguin
cartoon to encourage fruit consumption among
the young.
This was focused in promoting
the national varieties of table grapes and kiwi
at point of sale, in distributing promotional
data, in building the awareness of the Chilean
industry web site, as well as media activity.
Thanks to the Free Trade Agreement
between Chile and the Republic of Korea, between
2002 and 2004, Korean television networks visited
Chile, with the aim of showing the merits of
the Chilean fruit industry and how Korea could
benefit from trade with Chile.
ASOEX also programmed visits
to Chile by representative delegations of the
public sector, producers, and private importers
of South Korea.
